A collective effort from the running game led by Isiah Pacheco’s big night was vital in the Kansas City Chiefs leaving New York with a victory on Sunday. One of the highlights of the win was the Chiefs offense closing the game in the final four minutes.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid acknowledged his team’s miscues in Sunday night’s game and praised their execution. The running game was a consistent weapon throughout the night and never more important than the final drive that drained the Jets of their timeouts and kept their offense on the sidelines. Reid shared his thoughts about the game’s last four minutes during Monday’s Zoom conversation with reporters.
Buy Chiefs Tickets“I think we do work on it quite a bit,” Reid explained. “You see, at a training camp, and then we work on it every week on Friday, but we’ve done that in the past, too. So that’s not something that’s new. But I think, you know, the guys up front are blocking nice Coach Heck’s (Andy Heck) got some good runs there that he’s put together.
“Then really all three, Pacheco (Isiah Pacheco) Two-Five (Clyde Edwards-Helaire) One (Jerick McKinnon), they’re all running hard and good. They’re seeing things. So it’s it’s been a positive thing. That combination, you probably put the tight ends on that because they’re in all of those.”
Pacheco finished with a season-high 20 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown, while Edwards-Helaire and McKinnon featured often throughout the game.
