Chiefs HC Andy Reid comments on Rashee Rice’s injury: ‘We’re getting the swelling out of his knee’

During a press conference on Thursday, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid gave the latest update on wide receiver Rashee Rice’s knee injury.

“As far as the guys not practicing today, Rashee is really the only one,” said Reid. “Rashee’s situation is we’re getting the swelling out of his knee, and then he’s got further tests next week. So (I) really don’t have anything to tell you. From there, we’ll see how these tests go next week and once the swelling is down there.”

Rice was hurt in the first quarter of last Sunday’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers, and many analysts suspected that he had torn an ACL. The team has yet to release an official ruling on his injury, as Reid continued to explain and give his thoughts on the matter.

“I think it’s just wait and see just is where we’re at. For his sake, we’re really hoping that things work out for the best, but let’s just see where it goes and leave it up to the doctors to see. I’m definitely not a doctor.”

Rice will likely miss significant time this season, so the Chiefs are focused on building their current receiver core. The optimism remains that he could make his return before the end of the season.
