Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has seen countless unique highlight plays from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The latest touchdown pass to tight end Travis Kelce while falling and avoiding a sack was another unbelievable moment and catalyst to the team’s Divisional round victory over the Houston Texans.
Reid shared his thoughts on Mahomes’ miraculous moments in the clutch during his postgame press conference.
“Yeah, I always tell our coaches, ‘Don’t get use to that.’ This is unreal (and) I tell the fans the same thing. We are very lucky to have him (Patrick Mahomes) here.” said Reid. “The stuff he’s doing just doesn’t happen, and that’s why he’s the greatest at doing what he’s done in a relatively young career here. I thought Offensive Coordinator Matt) Nagy did a nice job at putting the guys in position to have some real nice plays, too.”
Mahomes completed 16 passes for 177 yards and the touchdown to Kelce, who benefitted with seven receptions for 117 yards. The Chiefs have clinched their seventh consecutive trip to the AFC Championship game next week at Arrowhead Stadium.
