Chiefs HC Andy Reid comments on experience with AFC postseason teams: ‘We’ll figure it out’

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters via Zoom on Friday. He shared his thoughts on having already had regular-season experience with the other six teams in the AFC playoffs.

“We actually have played, which is crazy, but we’ve played all the teams that are in the playoffs,” said Reid. “You have to go back, though; you can’t be content with that, so the four teams that we have a chance to potentially play in a couple of weeks here, we’ve tried to hammer those out, and we’re going to continue to do that until we find out what the results are probably Sunday night, somewhere in that area, or at least late afternoon I would imagine.”

Kansas City went 7-2 against potential playoff teams in 2024, losing to the Buffalo Bills in Week 11 and the Denver Broncos in Week 18. This record matches the Baltimore Ravens for the best record against eventual playoff teams of any franchise in the NFL. During the regular season, the Chiefs played the entire AFC postseason field and defeated all but one of them.

“We’ll figure it out and see where it goes, but we’re going to try to be ready for all of them while we have this time, and we’ve tried to use it smart as a coaching staff,” Reid told reporters. “At the same time, we want to make sure our players are fresh but still stay sharp.”

The Chiefs will use the extra time between games to practice and prepare for the Divisional Round against a familiar opponent next weekend.
