Earlier in the week, during an episode of ‘The Herd with Colin Cowherd,’ host Colin Cowherd spoke to Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid about a potential coaching future for Pro Bowler Travis Kelce.
“I’d probably say yes, to be honest with you, because I’ve been around him for so long; we’ve had him my whole duration here and drafted him,” said Reid. “I kinda know where he’s at physically, mentally. I know what he can do in games. So we try to utilize him, which helps him because for a while there, we were banged up for a little bit, and guys were trying to learn.”
Teammates have frequently praised Kelce for his helpful and motivational attitude. The Chiefs nominated him for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award this season.
“He was being double-teamed, and it wasn’t as good for him,” said Reid. “Travis would be a heck of a football coach. He’s able to get up there and explain things and teach these young guys exactly what he sees and feels.”
Kelce hasn’t indicated any intention of returning after this season, but it would be interesting to discuss him as a head coach once his playing career is over. The many entertainment paths he’s developed over the last few years could put the coaching future in doubt, but anything is possible.
