The Kansas City Chiefs had two dozen players hit free agency back in March. Typically, they’ve either re-signed or lost most of those players to other clubs at this point of the offseason. Shockingly, there are a few players who still remain free agents — all on the defensive side of the ball.
Let’s take a quick look at those players who are still available:
DE Frank Clark

A trade acquisition that kicked off the Steve Spagnuolo era in 2019, Clark was released by Kansas City this offseason. While there have been some rumors that he’s interested in striking a deal to return to the Chiefs, it doesn’t appear that anything is imminent.
DE Carlos Dunlap

Dunlap had three very specific goals that he wants to accomplish with the Chiefs in 2022 — and he accomplished all of them. Is the 13-year NFL veteran waiting for the right opportunity or simply the right time to hang up his cleats for good?
DT Brandon Williams

Williams was a late-season addition who ended up logging valuable minutes for the Chiefs down the stretch in 2022. With the team’s need for depth on the interior defensive line, it’s a little surprising that they didn’t bring him back.
LB Darius Harris

A key backup and multi-phase special teamer, Harris remains a free agent after joining Kansas City as an undrafted free agent back in 2019. With how deep the linebacker room is with the Chiefs right now, it’s hard to envision a situation where he returns to the team.
