The Kansas City Chiefs overcame another strong performance from reigning MVP and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones spoke to the media on Thursday night and addressed the defense’s performance against Lamar Jackson and holding on during the last defensive stand.
“We know how hard it’s going to be to bring him down, So it’s like a challenge for us to try to answer that call,” said Jones. “We knew he was going to be elusive. We knew he was going to try to make plays with his feet. And our job is to get him down, but he’s tough to bring down.”

The game ended with an overturned touchdown in the end zone, as Isaiah Likely’s foot touched out of bounds on the catch. Jones praised his teammates again for holding tough until the very end.
“It (was) a lot of effort, a lot of grit, that (went into) the last few plays from our defense,” said Jones. “(But) we were able to hold on. We were inches away from going into overtime (in the) first game of the year.”
Jackson had another 100-yard rushing game on Thursday night, while Jones finished with three tackles and the strip sack on Jackson.
