Chiefs designate DB Jaylen Watson to return from IR

According to a report by FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz on Friday, the Kansas City Chiefs are designating star cornerback Jaylen Watson to return from injured reserve and begin practice.

Watson was placed on injured reserve in October with a broken fibula and was not expected to return this season, but has made significant progress in his injury recovery.

Before being placed on injured reserve, the former Washington State Cougar recorded 32 tackles and six pass deflections through the first six games of the regular season.

Though he may not be Kansas City’s most accomplished defensive back, Watson’s return could be a boon for the Chiefs as the playoffs approach.

Should Watson be able to return in time for Kansas City’s Divisional Round playoff matchup later this month, he would provide a significant shot in the arm for the Chiefs’ defense, which needs all the help it can get as the team endeavors to win a third consecutive Super Bowl in February.
