Chiefs could get both Kadarius Toney, Mecole Hardman back in Week 15

The Kansas City Chiefs could get a boost on offense in Week 15 with the expected return of two receivers.

Both Kadarius Toney and Mecole Hardman could be making their return to action this week after missing time with injuries. Toney has sat out the last three games after aggravating a hamstring injury that he dealt with earlier this season on the New York Giants. The Chiefs have been very cautious in his return from injury, with the goal of ensuring that he returns for the long haul.

This past week, Toney was a limited participant in practice all week and was originally listed as questionable to play. He was downgraded to out on Saturday, with an accompanying report that the team hoped he’d be good to go in Week 15. In his three games with the Chiefs this season, Toney has six receptions on seven targets for 69 yards and a touchdown. He also has two carries for 33 yards.

As for Hardman, he’s officially eligible to be designated to return from injured reserve and open his 21-day practice window on Wednesday. Hardman was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 17 with an undisclosed abdominal issue. He’s shared some positive progress updates throughout his time on injured reserve. Andy Reid shared an optimistic update on Hardman’s progress last week, suggesting that he could make his return to action as early as Week 15.

“There’s a chance, yeah,” Reid said. “There’s a chance. We’ll give him a couple of more days here and we’ll see, but he’s doing well.”

Hardman’s return will be a welcomed one for Kansas City as the fourth-year wideout has been a key part of the team’s offense this season. He’s mostly thrived in the red zone, with five of his six touchdowns coming from within the 20-yard line. He should provide a much-needed spark in that area of the field upon his return.
