After skipping another Chiefs practice on Sunday amid an extended contract holdout, Chris Jones doesn’t appear to be fazed by the rampant speculation surrounding his future in Kansas City.
The star defensive tackle again made headlines after missing his latest practice following a report stating he remains far apart on talks with the Chiefs’ front office on a new deal. Hours after the report emerged, Jones took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to let the world know that, despite the uncertainty, he’s eager to get back to playing.
Wrote Jones in the curiously-timed message: “I’m more motivated than ever!”

As one of the NFL’s top defensive players, Jones’ ongoing search for an extension has been a hot topic all off season. And, after holding out through training camp and the preseason, the All-Pro has remained dug in on his goal of a new deal before Week 1.
Based on his latest tweet, however, Jones sounds more than prepared to remain away from the team, for potentially as long as Week 8, with the Chiefs’ Week 1 matchup against the Lions on Thursday night rapidly approaching.
