Kansas City Chiefs C Creed Humphrey was deserving of his first career Pro Bowl nod in 2021, but he didn’t receive it despite leading his position in fan voting. This year, the voters got it right.
Humphrey was selected for the 2023 Pro Bowl Games, marking the first Pro Bowl honor of his young career. The second-year center from the University of Oklahoma spoke to reporters in the locker room after the Chiefs’ Week 16 win, describing what it meant to him to be selected for the Pro Bowl.
“Yeah, it’s a huge honor,” Humphrey explained. “I’m very excited about it. It kind of just shows how good the guys around me have been playing. I couldn’t be in this position without them, so you know those guys around me made my job a lot easier and have just made me a better player overall because of them. So credit to them and thanks to them.”
The entire left side of the offensive line was selected for the Pro Bowl alongside Humphrey, with Joe Thuney earning his first trip and Orlando Brown Jr. securing his fourth consecutive nod. It’s a testament to how the group is perceived by fans and those around the league.
While Humphrey is surely excited about his first Pro Bowl honor, he aims to have other plans during the Pro Bowl weekend.
“Hopefully, we’re in Arizona instead of being in Vegas,” Humphrey concluded. “That’s our end goal, going to Arizona and playing in that Super Bowl.”
