Chiefs C Creed Humphrey describes playing with Patrick Mahomes: ‘He’s a great leader’

On Wednesday’s episode of The Rich Eisen Show, host Rich Eisen spoke to Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey about his bond with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

“Meeting Pat (Patrick Mahomes) for the first time was awesome. It was one of those things, you know, just hey, excited that you’re here. Let’s get to work. And you know, I’m one of those guys that I like to get to work. So it was awesome to get around him. Obviously, you know, he’s a great leader, a great guy to have around, a great teammate, a great friend off the field. So he’s an incredible human being, and it’s been awesome to get to, you know, grow our relationship over these past four years.”

Kansas City became the fourth team to reach three consecutive Super Bowls, joining the 1990-93 Buffalo Bills (four successive), 1971-73 Miami Dolphins (three), and 2016-18 New England Patriots (three).

“We break down film together a couple of times a week,” said Humphrey. “Just seeing how he goes through studying film and things like that. It’s something I picked up on quick. And, you know, just understanding how he does it, and you know how focused he is during that time. And some, though, really stood out to me, and I’ve kind of taken that from him.”

Humphrey earned All-Pro honors for the first time in his career after leading all centers in offensive snaps with 1,112 in 2024.
