Chiefs are signing former Colts DT Taylor Stallworth

After a successful free agent visit, the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms with former New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts DT Taylor Stallworth according to his agent Brett Tessler.

A former teammate of Chiefs CB Rashad Fenton at the University of South Carolina in 2018, Stallworth first came into the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Saints. Stallworth made the Saints’ 53-man roster out of training camp, spending the 2018 and 2019 seasons in New Orleans. After leaving The Big Easy, Stallworth caught on with the Colts, spending two seasons in Indianapolis before becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Stallworth, 26, has appeared in 50 games spanning four NFL seasons. He’s coming off of his best season yet, serving in a rotational role with the Colts in 2021. On 332 defensive snaps played, Stallworth recorded 16 combined tackles, three sacks, 22 total pressures and one pass batted.

Stallworth figures as a potential replacement for Jarran Reed, who signed a one-year deal with the Green Bay Packers during free agency. Reed played 713 snaps in 2021 with Kansas City, amassing 43 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, 12 QB hits, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass batted. Stallworth hasn’t played close to that number of snaps, but his production could take a big jump with the Chiefs in 2022.
