After the Chiefs lost the season opener without two of their stars, Kansas City appears to be close to welcoming tight end Travis Kelce and defensive lineman Chris Jones back into the fold for Week 2.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid announced Friday that Kelce, who missed Week 1 with a knee injury, and Jones, fresh off ending a contract holdout, are expected to make their 2023 debuts on Sunday against the Jaguars (1–0) barring any setbacks.
“As long as nothing happens, they’ll be out there,” Reid told reporters, per Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride.
Should Reid’s update ring true, the returns of Kelce and Jones, key members of Kansas City’s Super Bowl-winning rosters in 2019 and ’22, figure to add a massive boost to a team coming off a Week 1 upset loss to the Lions.
Of course, both players, after logging two limited practices, still will likely need to clear one more hurdle to rejoin the lineup, though Kelce seems to be confident he’ll get the green light based on his Lo’eau LaBonta-inspired dance moves at Friday’s practice.

With a potential shootout in Jacksonville on the horizon, the Chiefs soon could return to form with two of their linchpins set to play on Sunday.
