The Chiefs announced they have activated running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire from injured reserve and placed wide receiver Mecole Hardman on IR in a corresponding move ahead of Super Bowl LVII.
Edwards-Helaire has been out since late November with a high ankle sprain, but he was a big contributor to the team in the first half of the season. In 10 games before suffering the injury, the tailback totaled 302 rushing yards and 151 receiving yards with six total touchdowns.
Hardman had just come off injured reserve after recovering from an abdominal injury in time to play in the AFC championship game against Cincinnati. He recorded two catches for 10 yards and two rushes for seven yards, but he wasn’t able to finish the game after aggravating the injury. In the regular season, Hardman played in eight games and recorded 25 receptions for 297 yards with four touchdowns.
While Hardman’s season is officially over, Kansas City also is dealing with injuries elsewhere at wide receiver as JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kadarius Toney were both listed as questionable last week.
