The chief suspect in the fatal attack on a fortune teller remained in Garda custody on other offences last night as gardai continue to build a case.
Stefan Nivelles Posschier was found dead after he was stabbed at his home at Rattin in Co Westmeath on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, we revealed how there was efforts to conceal Stefan’s body, which was found under tarpaulin at the rear of the house.
A man known to the victim was arrested in Co Carlow on the same evening on separate offences. The suspect has a history of drug issues and threatened to kill someone close to him. A source said: “Everything continues to be looked at but it remains the case that this individual is the chief suspect.”

A postmortem by State Pathologist Dr Linda Mulligan at Midland Regional Hospital said he died from an assault. A Garda spokesman said: “Investigating gardai can be contacted at the incident room in Mullingar Garda Station on 044 9384000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or through any Garda Station.
“No arrests have been made at this time.”
A pal of murdered psychic Stefan Nivelles Posschier has described him as her “best friend” who was “one of the kindest, funniest and so caring” persons she knew.
Stefan, 65, worked at psychic shows around the country and overseas as well as reading palms in the Mullingar area. Stefan described himself as a “spiritual shamanic advisor and tarot master” on his work Facebook profile.
In Stefan’s last post on his social media page just hours before his lifeless body was discovered, he shared a Think Positive Power message. He stated: “I want to thank a few special people who check up on me from time to time.
“That means so much more than you know.”
Nola De’e, who has been left heartbroken by Stefan’s death, said she will miss him “forever”. She also worked on the psychic and medium scene with Stefan. She revealed: “I am completely broken. He was one of the kindest, funniest and so caring for his family and his friends.”
She also described Stefan as her “best friend and forever my precious friend”. Nola added: “We went through so much over the years but always stayed in each other’s lives. Life will never be the same.
“It wasn’t just in Mullingar and Kinnegad he worked. We did many shows together. He was amazingly talented and an extremely intuitive person. It’s all too raw for everyone right now.”
Stefan’s sister, who lives abroad, took to social media to express her family’s grief. Kathryn said: “Goodbye brother, I’m so sorry and upset about you tragic death. I have loved you, love you and will love you.
“Please light a candle for my beloved brother. Such a tragic ending.”
His niece Ilona added: “We love you uncle. My heart is empty.”
