Chicago White Sox End 12-Game Losing Streak With Dominant Win

The Chicago White Sox broke their 12-game losing streak with a convincing 8-1 win against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. The White Sox, now 32-109 this season, showed resilience and determination to avoid matching the post-1900 record of 120 losses set by the 1962 New York Mets.

Jonathan Cannon delivered a solid performance, pitching into the sixth inning and allowing only one run and five hits. The White Sox offense came alive with three home runs from Nicky Lopez, Andrew Vaughn, and Dominic Fletcher.

Despite facing a half-game lead by the New York Yankees in the AL East, the Orioles struggled as Albert Suárez gave up six runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.

The game started with a bang as both teams led off with home runs, with Gunnar Henderson hitting a homer for the Orioles to tie the game at 1. Vaughn and Fletcher's home runs in the fourth inning secured the lead for the White Sox.

Additional runs came from Luis Robert Jr.'s RBI double, Lenyn Sosa's sacrifice fly in the fifth, and Sosa's RBI single in the ninth. Fletcher also contributed with a run on a groundout.

Injury concerns arose during the game as Robert left in the sixth inning with right hamstring tightness. The White Sox placed INF Brooks Baldwin on the 10-day injured list due to a right wrist sprain and recalled INF Bryan Ramos from Triple-A Charlotte. Vaughn also faced a scare when he was struck in the right leg by a foul ball but seemed to be okay.

Looking ahead, both teams have a day off on Thursday. The White Sox will face the Boston Red Sox on Friday night, with Davis Martin starting for Chicago. The Orioles will host the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night, with the starting pitcher yet to be announced.
