A Chicago waitress was violently attacked because of a dispute over a $50 bill last week, leaving her with several cuts, bruises and a broken finger.

The incident occurred at El Taco Azteca in Pilsen on April 4. Two customers, who had eaten most of their takeout meal, returned to ask the restaurant for a reimbursement, according to reporting by NBC Chicago. When the waitress refused to comply, one of the customers threw her phone into a bucket of water.

When the victim threatened to call the police, the suspects began punching, kicking and stomping her for minutes before employees were able to stop the attack.

"I feel rage, primarily because something like this has never happened, and for it to be over $50 just doesn't make any sense," Carlos García, El Taco Azteca's owner said.

The restaurant's manager issued a warning to the suspects.

"I want them to know, we're going to find you whatever it takes, I'm putting everything I have into this ... I have no doubt about it, we're going to find them," Marta Garcia, a manager at El Taco Azteca, told NBC Chicago.
