Chicago police have announced that they will maintain their current tactics and are prepared for the final night of pro-Palestinian demonstrations outside the Democratic National Convention. This decision comes after a peaceful march on Wednesday night that saw no injuries or arrests.

During the peaceful march on Wednesday, over 2,000 pro-Palestinian protesters peacefully made their way past a park where pro-Israel demonstrators had gathered earlier. This demonstration followed a smaller, unsanctioned protest outside the Israeli Consulate the day before, which resulted in 56 arrests after violent clashes between police and protesters.

Police Superintendent Larry Snelling confirmed that the protest on Wednesday concluded without any arrests or injuries. He commended the organizers for collaborating with law enforcement in advance, highlighting the importance of holding First Amendment-protected demonstrations peacefully.

The largest protest thus far occurred on Monday, drawing approximately 3,500 participants. Despite the peaceful nature of the protest, 13 arrests were made, primarily related to breaching security fencing. Fortunately, the inner security perimeter at the United Center, where the convention is being held, remained secure.

Another mostly peaceful march took place on Sunday night, resulting in two arrests. The Coalition to March on the DNC, responsible for organizing the Monday march, has planned a second permitted demonstration for Thursday. The event will begin with a rally in a park near the United Center, followed by a march through adjacent streets.
