A Chicago woman and her husband were brutally attacked by a gang of teenagers over the weekend, leaving them with gruesome injuries. The woman, who was two weeks pregnant at the time, tragically suffered a miscarriage as a result of the assault.
The incident occurred in the Streeterville neighborhood, just a few blocks from Michigan Ave and Navy Pier. The couple was on their way home from a date night when a teenage boy approached them and punched the husband in the back of the head. Despite trying to walk away, the teen continued to attack them, and soon a large group of over a dozen teenagers joined in.
The wife described how she was dragged by her hair, pepper-sprayed in the face, and stomped on while on the ground. The couple feared for their lives during the brutal assault, with the wife expressing concern about not being able to make it home to her son.
When the police arrived, the attackers fled, and only two teens were arrested—a 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy, both charged with misdemeanors and later released. The alderman for the area highlighted the ongoing issue of groups of bored teenagers causing trouble without facing significant consequences.
The couple now plans to advocate for changes in the law to hold the parents of such delinquent teens accountable for their actions. They also urge the public to be cautious and vigilant, emphasizing the importance of being aware of one's surroundings.
