Chhattisgarh CM announces financial assistance of Rs 11 cr for disaster victims of Himachal Pradesh

Raipur: Expressing solidarity with the people affected by heavy rains and landslides in Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday announced a financial aid of Rs 11 crores.

According to an official statement, Baghel had a discussion with the Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday. He assured that the country stands with the people of Himachal Pradesh in these difficult times and that all necessary efforts will be made.

"On behalf of Chhattisgarh, I announce an aid amount of Rs 11 crore to help the people who are suffering due to heavy rains and landslides in Devbhoomi Himachal Pradesh. We all Chhattisgarhians stand with the people of Himachal and will collectively face the calamity and work for restoration of normalcy. We all pray to God to protect everyone," Baghel said in a post on 'X,' formerly knowns as Twitter.

Earlier on Thursday, Himachal CM Sukhu visited the rain and flood-affected areas of Matehdi, Baldwara, Maseran and Jukain of the Sarkaghat assembly segment of Mandi district and interacted with the people who suffered losses besides assuring them of all possible support from the Government.

The Chief Minister announced immediate financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to the affected families for refurbishing their partially damaged houses. The Chief Minister also met 23 families from Gram Panchayat Gehra, who had suffered heavy losses during the recent rain wrath. The Chief Minister directed the district administration to provide the best facilities to them at the relief camps they were sheltered in.

Chief Minister said, "The scale of devastation across the entire state due to heavy rains and landslides is massive. The estimated losses from the disaster were estimated to be around Rs 10,000 crore." (ANI)
