Chewbacca costume, Lego village and a groom - oddest things found at Nottingham Travelodges

A Chewbacca costume, village of Lego and a groom are amongst the strangest things left in the rooms of Travelodges across Nottingham last year.

The findings, detailed in the hotel chain's lost and found audit for 2021, are just a few of a long list of bizarre sights for staff.

Travelodge, which runs four hotels in and around the city, said the findings were "interesting".

Perhaps the most interesting discovery was a costume of Chewbacca, the iconic Star Wars wookie, at the Riverside.

Also found in the building was a vintage pocket watch.

Meanwhile, at the Travelodge in Wollaton, a groom was left in a room, as well as a six foot flower arch made from white roses.

A village made from Lego and two palm trees were found at the hotel in Maid Marian Way.

Elsewhere, in the Trowell M1 Travelodge, a suitcase full of business receipts and a marriage certificate were located.

Further out, at the Travelodge near East Midlands Airport, a collection of Roald Dahl books were deserted.

Across the country arguably even stranger things were found, two of them dogs - one a Pomsky named Beyonce in Manchester and the other, a robot dog in Leeds.

Shakila Ahmed, a spokeswoman for Travelodge said: “In 2021 we welcomed back millions of customers to our 582 UK Travelodge hotels including our hotels in Nottingham, and we saw a significant increase in bookings.

"This has led to a range of interesting items being left behind by our customers across our UK hotels. This year’s Lost & Found audit includes a rise in holiday themed items, wedding props, precious sentimental items, smart gadgets and beloved pets.

“When it comes to why so many of our customers forget their treasured items, it’s basically due to us all being time poor, juggling multiple tasks and being in a hurry to get from A to B. In the rush, valuable possessions are easily forgotten.”
