NEW DELHI: Standing on the cusp of his landmark 100th Test, India batter Cheteshwar Pujara met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and presented him a bouquet on Tuesday.
Pujara will become the 13th Indian to play 100 or more Tests, with Sachin Tendulkar (200 Tests) sitting at the top, when he sets foot on the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium ground on Friday in the second match of the four-Test series against Australia.
The gritty Pujara, who also made his Test debut in 2010 against Australia, fought hard and overcame all the challenges in his cricketing career with sheer hard work and determination.
Soon after meeting Modi, Pujara took to Twitter to share his feelings.
"It was an honour to meet our Hon. Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji. I will cherish the interaction and encouragement ahead of my 100th Test. Thank you @PMOIndia"
Pujara, who has three double hundreds in Test cricket, has scored 7021 runs comprising 19 centuries and 34 half-centuries in 99 Tests.
