The NBA announced on Thursday that Oklahoma City Thunder’s Chet Holmgren won the Western Conference Rookie of the Month award.
The 21-year-old has now won the award both times this season. This shouldn’t come off as the seven-foot rookie has helped the Thunder be one of the best teams in the league.
In 33 games, Holmgren is averaging 17.4 points on 54.4% shooting, 7.5 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.6 assists. He’s also shooting 40.7% from 3 on 4.2 attempts.
During December, Holmgren averaged 17.4 points on 55.1% shooting, 7.7 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.4 assists in 13 games.
This news comes on the same day that it was announced Holmgren was No. 9 in the first rounds of 2024 All-Star fan voting for the West’s frontcourt.
The seven-footer was drafted No. 2 in the 2022 NBA draft. He missed the entire 2022-23 season recovering from a Lisfranc injury he suffered in the 2022 offseason.
