Cheryl soaks audience member with wine in on-stage blunder as co-star quits

Cheryl soaked an audience member her with wine during her on-stage performance in 2:22 A Ghost Story on Sunday night.

The former Girls Aloud star, 39, kick started her three-month stint as Jenny in the West End play on Saturday night and she has since been met with rave reviews after taking over the role from former Love Island host, Laura Whitmore.

The Geordie singer's debut acting role, which was also previously played by Lily Allen and Giovanna Fletcher, has won her praises from hundreds of social media fans - but even Cheryl slips up sometimes.

On Sunday night, the mum-of-one showcased her professionalism when she ended up soaking an audience member in wine during the live stage performance.

The audience member in question took to Twitter to reveal that they had been 'soaked head-to-toe' during Cheryl's second night on stage, - but other fans joked that the star had 'blessed' her.

The 'blessed' audience member took to Twitter to explain that as part of the thriller play, Cheryl had to knock over a glass of wine off the stage and into the front row - and it was just her luck that it landed on her.

She jokingly tweeted: "Just been soaked head to toe with wine. Thanks Cheryl xo"

"Cheryl knocks over a glass of wine during the show (it's meant to happen) and she practically poured the whole glass right over me, it puddled it my jeans and I was sat soaked for the rest of the show.

"She knocks wine over and it goes on someone in the front row. Just so happened i got soaked this time around," she added.

Cheryl 's successful West End debut has been followed by chaos, just days after she made her first appearance on stage.

The opening weekend of her three-month stint in the show has received rave reviews so far but the production has now been subject to a last-minute change after one of Cheryl’s co-stars was forced to pull out.

Hugo Chegwin has withdrawn from his role as Ben opposite Cheryl due to illness during the rehearsal period – and has been replaced by EastEnders legend Jake Wood.

People Just Do Nothing star Chegwin, 37, said: “I’ve had the flu. Due to being poorly during the rehearsal period, I’ve had to pull out of the play.

“I’m absolutely gutted about this and I wish everyone involved in the play the best of luck. The cast are truly amazing.”
