Cheryl receives standing ovation for West End debut with Girls Aloud pals supporting

Cheryl was overwhelmed with emotion as she received a standing ovation on the press night of her West End acting debut.

The former Girls Aloud star, 39, had a tear in her eye as the adoring crowd - including ex bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts - rushed to their feet to applaud the 2: 22 A Ghost Story show at London's Lyric Theatre.

It was Cheryl's first time performing on the West End after taking on the leading role of Jenny in the production. The role has been previously played by Laura Whitmore and Lilly Allen.

A source told the Mirror "Cheryl gave a faultless performance as fraught mum Jenny, as she made her transition from pop star to leading lady.

"The crowd were hanging on Cheryl's every word as she moved between physical comedy and blind rage throughout the two hour long production, prompting laughs and gasps from her adoring audience.

"As the curtain came down following the chilling finale, Cheryl beamed as she took in the rapturous standing ovation.

Cheryl was joined on stage for the applause by co-stars Scott Karim and Louise Ford who both also lapped up the appreciation from the audience.

For her part, Cheryl donned a floral printed burgundy dress with a high neck. She paired it with a khaki cardigan.

Both Kimberley and Nicola took to Instagram on the night to update their followers. Following the performance Kimberley shared a clip on her Story of Cheryl receiving applause.

On the night, Kimberley dazzled photographers with her stunning wardrobe choice of a black maxi dress with red floral print, covered by a nude trench coat.

Nicola looked just as beautiful as she opted for a black mini dress, together with black tights and chunky black heels.
