Cherry picker, parade proposal and people on roof of Toby Carvery as city celebrates LFC

The LFC victory parade was a huge success, with many special moments during the tour of the city.

Huge crowds turned out despite the Reds suffering Champions League heartbreak on Saturday night in Paris. Jurgen Klopp’s side were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid.

But that didn’t stop Liverpool supporters from turning out in their thousands to celebrate a fine campaign for the club. As well finishing second in the Premier League, the Reds also claimed the League Cup and FA Cup - at the expense of Chelsea both times.

At one iconic moment, a group could be seen on a cherry picker above the roof of a house to get the best view. They even decorated it with a banner, as two other people stood on the roof next to it.

In another brilliant moment on West Derby Road, a banner was held up which had a special message to Jurgen Klopp. It said: "Jurgen Will You Marry Me." A man and woman could be seen holding it up, with the woman smiling at the bus as it went past.

Staff at Toby Carvery on Queens Drive also joined in the celebrations. They had decorated the roof with cardboard cut outs of LFC players, banners and flags.

The staff also stood on the roof of the pub waving and celebrating as the bus went by. Liverpool brought the city to a standstill this afternoon as the team paraded through the streets to celebrate a brilliant season.

Jurgen Klopp's men claimed both domestic trophies, finished one point behind Manchester City in the top flight, and were narrowly beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday. For several hours today, the squad and staff were driven towards town in an open top bus as they carried both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup to display to thousands of adoring fans.

Smoke and songs filled the air as a sea of red could be seen from South Liverpool all the way into the city centre, where there was a spectacular firework finale. It was a memorable day - and the vast show of support sent a clear message to any critics who questioned why these joyous scenes were taking place.
