Cher, 76, reveals very cheeky nickname for toyboy boyfriend, 36, amid engagement rumours

Cher looked all loved-up as she rang in the New Year with her boyfriend Alexander Edwards and revealed the playful nickname she's chosen for her younger beau.

The 76-year-old singer was overjoyed when her 36-year-old toy boy puckered up to give her a kiss on the cheek as the clock struck midnight and she shared a snap of the moment with her fans.

In the picture, Cher flashed the huge diamond ring Alexander had bought her for Christmas which has caused rumours of an engagement to swirl.

Sharing the photo on Twitter, Cher wrote: "Happy New Year Daddy."

Some people were taken aback by the nickname, with one person replying: "Daddy?? Oh hell naw!"

Another wrote: "You’re 40 years older then him. Maybe he should call you mommy."

Cher had the perfect response for her critics and posted a second snap of herself gazing into Alexander's eyes.

She wrote: "This should Send you Haters to The Part in Wizzard of OZ…WHEN DOROTHY THREW WATER ON THE wicked Witch & Melted her."

Fans were loving the response, with one person commenting: "Living to be as iconic as Cher’s Twitter feed."

Another added: "Haters are just jealous Babe," while a third fan wrote: "I am so happy for you. You deserve to be happy with who ever you want to be with. Congratulations."

Rumours of an engagement began to swirl on Christmas Day when Cher shared a snap of the gift he bought her for Christmas.

The Believe hitmaker sent fans into overdrive when she posted a picture of an enormous diamond ring being held by Alexander.

She wrote: "THERE R NO WORDS, ALEXANDER,A.E."

The glittering diamond ring featured a teardrop jewel in the centre and sat nestled in a black velvet box.

Cher's four million followers began to speculate that wedding bells are on the horizon, with one person commenting: "OMG did he propose to you!!!?? Mama lovely."
