Cheltenham solicitors Willans begins revamp of offices

A Gloucestershire-based law firm has begun a complete refurbishment of its regency offices in Cheltenham.

Willans solicitors, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, has been based near the town's Imperial Gardens for more than 60 years.

The office redesign and refurbishment includes moving the reception from number 28 to a brand-new space in its premises at number 34 Imperial Square. Willans’ postal address will officially change on June 1, 2022.

The project involves creating new collaborative meeting and social areas with coffee stations; ‘quiet’ seating; outdoor spaces; and adding new bike racks and showers to encourage employees to cycle to work.

A number of Gloucestershire businesses are involved in the revamp, according to Willans, which said it would work with eco-friendly and locally minded suppliers "where possible". The law firm has already been working with furniture designer Paul Deakin; electricians Massie Electrics; and family-run retailers Carpet Emporium and Just Fabrics, it said.

Other businesses and individuals involved in the project include Richard Pulham; Booth and Bomford; GB Scaffolding; Hughes Flooring; Abbey Business Interiors; Hanman Split; and Kath Wyndow.

Managing partner Bridget Redmond, who has been with the firm for over 15 years, said: “It’s been really exciting to start our office refurbishment and to see our vision coming to life.

"While we work with clients locally, nationally and internationally, our home is Gloucestershire, and we support local businesses whenever we can. It’s great to have so many local businesses helping us with this project; many of whom have looked after us for years.”

The announcement comes as Willans transitions to a hybrid-working model for its nearly 100 staff.

"It’s become clear just how important it is to have somewhere for our teams to gather; to work collaboratively and to socialise," added Ms Redmond. "Our refurbished offices will provide a very pleasant environment, which will suit the way that we’re now working. We’re all very much looking forward to the completion of the project."

Willans recently hosted a drinks event for suppliers in its new reception.
