Chelsea were unable to capitalise on a dominant display against Manchester United with the two sides sharing a point each after a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford. The Blues controlled the game in Manchester, but were unable to hold onto their lead - which lasted around two minutes.
Marcos Alonso handed Chelsea a deserved lead on the hour-mark with a stunning volley leaving David de Gea with absolutely no chance. However, Cristiano Ronaldo was on hand to reply in a swift fashion for the out-of-form Man United, who managed to salvage a point.
"Sometimes, days like this happen," Thomas Tuchel said to the media after the game. "But it's on us to learn from it. To win on stages like this, you have to be clinical to get the rewards. It was a huge team effort with a lot of quality, but unfortunately, we don't have what we deserve."

Tuchel saw some really positive performances from some of the team at Old Trafford, but the German coach may have been disappointed with what he witnessed from others. So, with that said, football.london looks at the two 'winners' and the two 'losers' from the draw in Manchester...
Winner - Marcos Alonso
Alonso perhaps isn't the most popular figure among Chelsea supporters, but the left-back deserves praise for his display on Thursday. The Spaniard was a constant menace down the left-hand side and caused Man United numerous problems throughout the game.
When a chance did come his way, unlike some of his team-mates, Alonso finished with aplomb. It was a scrumptious volleyed finish from the 31-year-old.
Alonso has now been directly involved in three goals in his last four Premier League appearances. Of course, when Ben Chilwell returns from injury, Tuchel is likely to select him, but Alonso has shown some encouragement recently at the very least.
Winner - Reece James
Wow. What a performance from Reece James. Chelsea fans know just how good he is, but even some supporters on social media were left shocked by how well he performed in Manchester on Thursday.
Unsurprisingly, he was named Man of the Match by Gary Neville on Sky Sports. James had 107 touches (1st), put in 10 crosses (1st), had 10 touches in the opposition box (1st) and made four tackles (1st).
When asked who his Man of the Match was by Martin Tyler, Neville responded: "Kante's played well, Alonso's played well, but I'm giving it to Reece James.
"Absolutely outstanding on that right flank. The goal would have been the perfect moment for him."
Loser - Kai Havertz
Kai Havertz is a favourite among the Chelsea fan base - and so he should be. He's been absolutely exceptional this season and the match against United can be filed into the 'one-off' category.
Havertz missed two glorious chances for Chelsea on the evening, with his first a one-on-one with De Gea, but the Spaniard saved. The second was a free header inside the box but he was again denied by De Gea - in easier fashion this time.
The German will be back, though, there's no doubt about that. His clinical edge was missing on the night, but there's no cause for real concern going forward.
Loser - Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku was introduced to a chorus of boos from the Old Trafford crowd due to his previous association with Manchester United, but he was unable to silence the jeers. Coming on with 20 minutes of normal time to go, the Belgian failed to get involved in the play, with Chelsea having the majority of the attacks.
"If they had a sharp, strong Lukaku, I think it must be so frustrating because they have a player who has shown he can score goals at this level, but this season he has been off it," Roy Keane said in the Sky Sports studio after the match. "If they had a fit Lukaku scoring 20 / 25 goals a season, that would have made Chelsea contenders in every competition.
"His mentality and fitness levels, he has come on against Manchester United, who he has played for previously, he should go, I'll show them my quality and he came on, and just ambled along, with no determination that will get you those goals. His attitude doesn’t seem right."
It isn't going well for Lukaku at the moment and with every day that passes, the temptation of both the player and the club to part ways increases. The striker still has plenty of time to show his worth to Chelsea between now and the end of the season, though - with some crucial matches still to go.
