Chelsea want Manchester United star Marcus Rashford in January and more transfer rumours

Manchester United have a decision to make on the future of Marcus Rashford. The forward's contract officially ends at the end of the 2022/23 season but the club have an option to extend for a further year, however, this uncertainty has other teams circling.

Rashford has started the season in great form in the absence of Anthony Martial through injury and also with Cristiano Ronaldo dropping to the bench. He has scored three goals and registered two assists in the opening six league games

ESPN reported that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in Rashford during the summer window but United slapped a £120m price tag on him. However, according to reports in Italy, with this resurgence under Erik ten Hag, other teams are taking notice.

La Repubblica have stated that Chelsea could launch a bid for Rashford in January with owner Todd Boehly monitoring the progress of the 24-year-old's contract talks with United. Rashford's versatility to play either as a striker or winger would work well under new manager Graham Potter, but it seems unlikely at this point that he will leave Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, Joao Felix has broken his silence over United's rumoured move for the striker in the summer transfer window. He told Marca: "Nothing came to me, it's a matter for the presidents. I am here."

And finally, speaking to Corriere Dello Sport, Napoli Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli has revealed that the Italian club were never truly in talks to sign the Portuguese Forward. He said: “During the transfer market we pretend to chat with everyone, and sometimes we do it for real. But we wanted to invest in a young team."

Ronaldo has only started two games under Ten Hag so far and as previously mentioned it seems Ten Hag prefers Rashford for the striker position, while it is still unclear whether Martial's return will push him even further down the pecking order. Against Real Sociedad, he was ineffective.

Ronaldo's contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 season, though the club have an option to extend for a further year. Though it is still unclear whether United will activate the clause.
