Stamford Bridge, home of Chelsea Football Club - (The FA via Getty Images)

Follow live coverage as Chelsea face Ipswich Town today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Chelsea FC 2 - 2 Ipswich Town FC

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

16:04

The points are shared at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea stuttering again in the race for the top five. The Blues avoided defeat after going in 2-0 down at the break but will be disappointed they could not convert their dominance into a victory, after firing off 34 efforts at Alex Palmer's goal. Enciso and Johnson had the Tractor Boys in front in the first half, both assisting each other for the two goals, before a Tuanzebe own goal got the hosts back into it in the first minute of the second period. Town defended bravely but Sancho's stunner rescued a point for the hosts with 11 minutes to play. Alex Palmer was surely the best player on the pitch, however, having made eight saves, including two vital ones in second-half stoppage time. The Blues won the xG count 2.14-1.14 and saw 73.6% of the ball but couldn't find a winner, so only move up to fifth in the table, with Fulham to come next in the Premier League. Wolves' victory over Tottenham means Ipswich are 18th and 14 points off survival with six games to play. Thanks for following!

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

15:23

Townsend replaces Davis at left-back for Ipswich.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

15:23

Ipswich get a corner all wrong and Chelsea break with numbers, but Neto's cross is blocked with team-mates queueing up in the box.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

15:21

Ipswich win a free-kick in a decent position down the left ater a challenge by Gusto on Clarke. The visitors have done a good job of getting on top of things after a bad start to the half.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

15:18

Enzo swings an excellent cross in from an awkward position, but it evades everybody and runs through for a throw-in.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

15:17

ANOTHER BIG CHANCE FOR HIRST! Johnson sends a teasing cross in between the back four and the goalkeeper, which Hirst crouches to head but directs wide of the post when unmarked. That's two major chances for Town.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

15:01

Maresca does have an array of attackers to introduce from the bench, including Nkunku, Sancho and George. Reece James is available, too, and you would imagine it won't be long until we see some fresh legs from the hosts' bench. Ipswich must be at maximum concentration for 45 minutes to keep out the Blues - but if they can produce more quality at the other end, could certainly score again themselves. The visitors are given a 60.4% chance of holding onto the points by the Opta Live Win Probability calculator, while Chelsea are a 16.3% shot to win.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:59

What a turn-up for the books. Ipswich lead 2-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Enciso and Johnson - and while they have had to withstand plenty of pressure, have undoubtedly been the cooler of the two teams in front of goal. The two goalscorers assisted each other, too, and have provided real quality with their deliveries when they needed to, presenting relatively straightforward chances for each other to score. Chelsea have come close through Jackson, Colwill and Madueke but have been frustrated by Alex Palmer in Town's goal, who has been the best player on the pitch. A string of good saves and claims has held the hosts at bay and he will be busy again during the second period. Maresca's side lead the shot count 15-5 and the xG battle 0.98-0.62 but must do better if they are to avoid an ignominious defeat.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:52

HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 0-2 IPSWICH

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:52

Enzo picks out Jackson's run in behind with a long pass from midfield, but the striker sends his short way over the bar. That'll be about that for the first half.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:50

Chelsea win their sixth corner of the match with two minutes of the half to play - but, as with everything else thrown his way so far, Alex Palmer deals with it well.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:49

A cross is half-cleared and Caicedo has time to take the ball on his chest and send a volley dribbling wide.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:47

Four minutes will be added on at the end of the first half.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:47

Neto has continued to threaten, attempting five crosses in this game. Chelsea could do with getting the ball out to him more often.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:44

The game is being played entirely in Ipswich's half but Chelsea have lost the rhythm they had in the first 20 minutes. Enzo's latest cross is easily claimed by Alex Palmer.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:41

Madueke has another clear chance to shoot after Cucurella tees him up, but Tuanzebe makes a fine challenge to deny him.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:40

MADUEKE FIRES WIDE! Chelsea take a short corner, Cole Palmer finding Cucurella inside the box, and the ball is rolled back for Madueke to fire over.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:40

Yellow Card Alexander Palmer

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:37

This is an awkward one to dissect for Maresca, whose team have been dominant for long periods and could easily be ahead themselves. They have won the shot count 8-5 and xG tally 0.7-0.62 so far, but face an uphill battle to take anything from the game.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:33

Assist Julio César Enciso Espínola

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:33

CAJUSTE GOES CLOSE! The midfielder has a bit too much space from a Chelsea perspective, placing an effort just wide.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:32

Goal Benjamin Anthony Johnson

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:31

Chelsea are dominant but Ipswich continue to defend bravely. Cole Palmer drifts a cross to the back post and Johnson does enough to put Colwill off.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:30

Alex Palmer is back on his feet and fine to continue.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:28

Ipswich nearly get themselves in a muddle as O'Shea's back pass is off target and Alex Palmer is forced to stretch to clear. Jackson tries to close him down and collides with the goalkeeper, who stays down.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:25

Well, how will Chelsea repond to that? The Blues have been in the groove and could have been a goal or two up themselves, but must now find a way back having conceded for the first time in three league games.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:22

Assist Benjamin Anthony Johnson

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:21

Goal Julio César Enciso Espínola

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:20

PALMER DENIES COLWILL! The centre-back stays forwards from a corner and Madueke picks him out with a stunning cross, but the header is pushed away by the goalkeeper.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:19

Palmer makes his influence felt for the first time. A give and go with Neto opens up space for the Englishman to dink over a cross, which is put behind for a corner.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:17

Another save by Palmer! Madueke and Neto are causing Ipswich lots of problems down the flanks and this time the former lays the ball back for Chalobah to shoot straight at the goalkeeper.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:15

PALMER SAVES! Neto chisels out a cross from the left and it lands on the foot of Madueke to volley at the near post. Palmer gets across to tip behind and then claims the subsequent delivery.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:13

Chelsea are really ramping things up now. Madueke is the latest to have a crack, cutting in on his left foot and seeing his shot blocked.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:12

Fernandez fires over! It's Neto creating again, working some space from a short corner and picking out the midfielder, who spoons his effort closer to row Z than the back of the net from inside the box.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:11

JACKSON HITS THE POST! Neto gets to the byline and pulls a low cross into the box, where the striker fires against the woodwork from close range. Big chance missed for Chelsea.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:09

Chelsea begin to get on the front foot but the niggly start to the game continues as Fernandez fouls Enciso to relieve some pressure for Ipswich.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:07

A dreadful kick from Sanchez presents Clarke with the ball in space 30 yards out but the winger's shot is way off target.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:06

Cucurella goes down after a challenge with Johnson. Replays show the Ipswich wide man caught the Spaniard in the face with a stray hand but there's no punishment beyond a free-kick.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:03

Ipswich win an early free-kick, which is drifted towards the back post but Dara O'Shea has moved offside.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:02

Enciso kicks off the game for Ipswich...

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

14:01

The teams are out in west London and we're almost ready to go. The Opta Live Win Probability calculator has Chelsea as strong favourites, giving them a 74.4% chance of winning, while Ipswich are outsiders with just a 10.5% shot.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

13:46

The big news for Ipswich is that Delap is only fit for the bench, with a reported hip injury preventing him from starting. The striker was exceptional when the Tractor Boys beat Chelsea at Portman Road and there is lots of speculation about his future beyond the summer.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

13:41

Palmer and Jackson are both back in Chelsea’s Premier League XI, having started from the bench in last week’s 0-0 draw at Brentford. Palmer is without a goal in 13 matches and Jackson’s drought spans 10 games.

Ipswich are aiming to extend what feels like the inevitable by claiming a league double over Chelsea, who they beat 2-0 at Portman Road in December. They sit 12 points behind 17th-place Wolves and most likely must win today to give themselves any kind of chance.

Chelsea vs Ipswich Town

13:41

It’s a significant day for Chelsea, who can move back up to fourth in the league table with a victory, having fallen below Manchester City and Aston Villa yesterday. Enzo Maresca’s side have won just five of their last 15 league matches and must return to winning ways today.
