Chelsea urged to enter Man United Harry Kane transfer battle as Tottenham exit stance revealed

Chelsea have been urged to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane days after Manchester United's list of striking options for the summer emerged that included the England captain. The Red Devils appear in desperate need of a clinical number nine as part of Erik ten Hag's significant rebuild with the loan signing of Wout Weghorst seen as a temporary stopgap.

Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko were two other names listed alongside Kane after reports emerged the 29-year-old looked set to consider his future in north London. However, Kane's ambition to succeed at his boyhood club remains, as football.london understands.

Despite his stance on a transfer, this is unlikely to tempt teams away from trying to sign the England captain after he became Tottenham's joint-top goal scorer of all time on 266 goals, levelling with Spurs legend Jimmy Greaves.

Nonetheless, the summer of 2023 will be a key moment for Spurs and Kane with the future of manager Antonio Conte also up in the air. With his current contract up in 2024 this summer likely presents his final opportunity to secure a significant move if he ultimately decides to not agree an extension

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs have slapped an £85million price tag on their star striker. Although, that figure is likely to increase for a rival Premier League side given Daniel Levy’s reluctance to sell Kane to a domestic rival.

Along with United, Chelsea are also in desperate need of a striker after their £100million move for Romelu Lukaku in 2021 has gone terribly wrong. The Belgian striker is back at Inter, the club Chelsea bought him from, on a season-long loan, but he has significantly struggled with injuries and form since his return to Italy.

Co-owner Todd Boehly is currently overseeing a mass squad rebuild with over £450million spent on 14 players across two transfer windows, yet they are still missing a natural striker. Kai Havertz has filled the role for much of this season, but Jason Cundy has urged the Blues to go all out for Kane.

“If he (Kane) wants trophies, Chelsea should absolutely go for it. Put everything on the table and say what do you want,” Cundy told talkSPORT.
