Chelsea urged not to repeat Aubameyang mistake with Neymar transfer after Todd Boehly talks

Chelsea have been urged not to sign Neymar amid fears that he'll follow in the footsteps of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Blues striker arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer with a notable reputation to uphold.

But, despite Aubameyang's best efforts, he's struggled to fulfil expectations and has found himself out of favour under Graham Potter. The Chelsea boss even omitted the former Arsenal captain from the Champions League squad in order to make space for Mykhailo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix.

As result, Aubameyang now faces an increasingly uncertain future at the club with Potter showing no sign of reintegrating the him back into his plan. Speaking to CaughtOffside, Stan Collymore claimed that Neymar could go down a similar path to the Gabon international if he were to join the Blues.

"Neither Manchester club should take him and Chelsea definitely don’t need him," said the former Liverpool striker. "I think Neymar is a fantastic player but joining Chelsea would be an awful move in my opinion because the Blues' project is to build for the future and if Neymar were to come to Stamford Bridge, you could just imagine much of Graham Potter’s time in front of the media would be taken up by questions on the Brazilian.

"That’s the last time he would need, but it’d also be the last thing any of the other players need. Not only that, but Neymar’s antics are at times reminiscent of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and look how that one’s turned out, so just steer clear, Chelsea."

According to Le Parisien, Todd Boehly opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Tuesday to discuss the future of the Brazil international. The report states that the American billionaire explored the conditions of a potential move which could take Neymar to Stamford bridge.

The French outfit locked horns with Bayern Munich at Les Parc des Princes on Tuesday evening in the Champions League round of 16 first-leg. A goal from Kingsley Coman shortly into the second-half proved to be the difference between the two sides as the Bundesliga champions waltzed away 1-0 victors.

Amid speculation of a move to the English top-flight, Neymar has previously admitted that he doesn't watch a lot of the Premier League but he's heard there's a 'lot of physical contact involved.'

And, worryingly for Chelsea fans hopeful of a deal, the Brazilian star has also previously vented his discontent at the physicality in Ligue 1. Speaking to The Daily Mail, Neymar said: "I do not get to watch a lot of the Premier League, but I have heard that there's a lot of physical contact involved in the game. But the French league also has too much physical contact."
