Chelsea transfer round-up: Midfielder interest grows as Ousmane Dembele plan emerges

Chelsea have upped their game in the transfer market in the last week and look set to sign several players over the next few days.

The Todd Boehly regime clearly want to make a splash for manager Thomas Tuchel and now their feet are under the table the activity is about to ramp up. Chelsea have been locked in talks to sign several different defenders, are close to agreeing a fee with Manchester City for Raheem Sterling, and chasing several forwards.

So the next few days look set to be a whirlwind of ins and outs as the Blues look to get their business done early. Here, Mirror Sport looks at the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours.

Serbia midfielder link

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is a midfielder who has long been on Chelsea's radar, and two big Italian newspapers report that interest in him has increased this week.

Both Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport claim Lazio sporting director Igli Tare held talks in London with the Blues over the Serbian star. And this one could have legs as Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri is a fan of two Chelsea fringe players who could be used as makeweights - Emerson Palmieri and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Shock Neymar move

Spanish newspaper Sport claims Chelsea are one of the only clubs in the world that could afford to sign Neymar. And they speculate that if the Brazil superstar were to leave Paris Saint-Germain, the Blues would end their interest in Barca contract rebel Ousmane Dembele.

France forward Dembele has so far refused to sign the new contract Barcelona offered him, demanding improved terms, with Chelsea also interested.

Lukaku begins exodus

Romelu Lukaku looks set to be just one of several players following Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen out of Stamford Bridge in the coming days according to Sky Sports.

Lukaku landed in Milan this morning to complete his loan return to Inter Milan, who are paying a loan fee of £6.9m plus £3.5m in bonuses if they win the Scudetto. The Belgium striker has also agreed to take a pay cut to seal the deal, just 11 months after Inter sold him to Chelsea for £97.5m.
