Chelsea transfer news: Todd Boehly given huge Enzo Fernandez incentive amid new UEFA policy

Your morning Chelsea transfer round-up from football.london on Tuesday, January 24.

Secret clause revealed

Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in their mission to sign on-loan Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix permanently. The Blues are expected to pay the Spanish giants around £9million for the six-month deal.

Initially, it was revealed that Atletico didn't want to provide Todd Boehly an option to buy in Felix's contract. However, The Athletic have since reported otherwise, handing the Blues great security ahead of the summer.

The report states that there is a clause in Felix's deal which 'opens the door to a permanent transfer in the summer'. If the forward continues to impress until the end of the season, Chelsea appear to have the upper-hand but it must be said that the details of said clause remains unknown.

Fernandez incentive

Chelsea have been offered a huge incentive to finally sign Benfica star Enzo Fernandez before the January transfer window slams shut. The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge lately after impressing for Argentina at the World Cup in Qatar.

According to The Times, officials at UEFA are planning to set a five-year limit on the length of time over which a player's transfer fee can be spread out. The report states that a new policy will be brought in before the summer transfer window after several clubs raised concerns with the European governing body over Chelsea's business.

The Times state that UEFA will not prevent the Blues from using amortisation on the players they've already signed. But, from the summer onwards, a new policy will be in place which, therefore, urges Boehly to sign Fernandez in January, taking advantage of the loophole he has been using before it is closed.

Everton raid

Chelsea look set to take advantage of the crisis ensuing at Everton following the sacking of Frank Lampard. The 44-year-old looks set to be dismissed from his position as head coach at Goodison Park, with the Toffees in the relegation zone.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues have shown an interest in Anthony Gordon and Amadou Onana ahead of what is set to be a frantic end to the month. The report states that Chelsea are 'considering whether or not to try and take advantage' of the ensuing crisis at Everton.
