Chelsea transfer news: Robert Lewandowski chances, Declan Rice decision and Barcelona swap

It's fair to say that Chelsea fans have had better weeks. Over the past month, the Blues have been the headline news around the world with billionaire owner Roman Abramovich being sanctioned by the UK government and more recently the EU.

Freezing his assets has had major implications on the club and the day to day running has stretched the Blues to the limits. Complications around selling tickets, merchandise and even getting to games are major issues to have arisen in recent weeks.

This has put huge question marks in Chelsea's ability to make moves in the summer transfer window but fans will have to hope that the ongoing situation cleared before the summer with a takeover. Whilst Thomas Tuchel has reassured fans that it won't affect them on the pitch, Chelsea will go into their crucial Champions League tie with Real Madrid coming off the back of a humiliating 4-1 home loss against Brentford.

Amid the ongoing situation, rumours continue to swirl about big name targets who the club could target this summer though, with Chelsea hoping a sale will have taken place before the summer transfer window opens as they look to rebuild their squad. We've rounded up the latest Chelsea transfer news and rumours below.

Lewandowski's preferred destination

Chelsea are said to be one of many teams interested in Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. The Polish striker has been among the best strikers in world football over the past few seasons - scoring 105 league goals in 98 games in the Bundesliga.

With his contract set to expire in 2023, the legendary frontman is said to be looking for a different challenge after spending eight seasons with Munich. Chelsea are reportedly strongly interested.

SPORT have reported though, that Lewandowski would like to join Barcelona, working under Xavi - who has impressed as manager since joining earlier this season.

Barcelona are reportedly set to bid for the striker this summer, in a deal which include other players. Chelsea could hijack the deal with a stronger offer should Bayern fail to agree a deal with Barcelona.

Terry says Chelsea must make Rice decision

John Terry has told Chelsea that they should target Declan Rice this summer, with his love for Chelsea potential swaying a move back to Stamford Bridge. Rice famously came through the academy at Chelsea having been a fan of the club as a boy, but was released at the age of 16 - joining West Ham.

Now, Rice is heavily being linked back to Chelsea - with West Ham potentially struggling to keep hold of their star man this summer with their Champions League chances fading. Rice is also being linked Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool also reportedly interested.

Barcelona interested in Rudiger with Araujo unlikely to leave

Barcelona's interest in Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger will not alter their decision on Ronald Araujo's future, according to Fabrizio Romano. Chelsea are one of many clubs said to be interested in the Barca centre-back, but the La Liga giants are now seemingly keen on keeping their man, as well as bringing in Rudiger.

The German has been a standout performer for Chelsea this year, but looks set to leave the club with a contract extension not being agreed on. Chelsea are expected to target a number of centre-backs this summer, with Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta all potentially leaving as free agents once their contract expires on July 1.
