Chelsea transfer news: Man Utd table improved Mason Mount bid as Inter Milan pursue summer raid

Your Chelsea transfer round-up on Thursday, June 22.

Jackson lowdown

Nicolas Jackson is said to be heading to London having finished representing Senegal in a win over Brazil and draw with Benin ahead of a £30m move, after a breakout season at Villarreal. Speaking to football.london, Rahul Lakhani from La Liga London and VillarrealUSA said: "Nicolas Jackson broke into the team during pre-season a year ago after impressing with his work-rate upfront.

"His strength on the ball and attacking movement stood out at a time when Villarreal were desperate for a striker, and Unai Emery gave him a chance to shine in the first team.

"The 22-year-old has developed rapidly in the last 12 months, initially being selected for his physical presence, as despite a lack of goals, his strong all-round displays continued to earn him a place in the side."

Mount bid rejected

Manchester United continue their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount this summer as talks step up over a potential deal between the two clubs. The midfielder is entering the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, leading to an ultimatum over his future.

Erik ten Hag's side have already lodged one bid, but as of Wednesday, have put forward a second offer to Chelsea for the midfielder. That's according to The Athletic, which reports that a £45 million offer with £5m on top in add-ons was proposed by the Red Devils.

This was countered by the west London outfit with £60m guaranteed and £5m in add-ons demanded, something that wasn't taken up and resulted in a rejected bid. United are said to be looking to get a deal for under £60m, but football.london understands that the valuation set by Chelsea is £70m.

Chalobah talks

football.london understands that Chelsea and Inter Milan are currently negotiating the transfer of Trevoh Chalobah. The two clubs are discussing a loan with an obligation to buy, but the Blues want a buy-back clause – which is thought to be a stumbling block. Talks are ongoing.

The 23-year-old defender has been heavily linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge recently as Mauricio Pochettino looks to trim down a bloated squad. While Chalobah has impressed when called upon, the Cobham graduate faces an increasingly uncertain future in west London.

He featured 33 times for Chelsea last season, primarily operating as a centre-half before slotting in at right-back to cover for Reece James. Chalobah's performances have clearly attracted the interest of Inter, and football.london understand that they're expected to push hard for his signature.
