Man United told to make Chelsea move
Manchester United have been told that a move for Edouard Mendy would make 'perfect sense' amid the potential exit of David de Gea.
As it stands, Mendy's contract in west London expires in 2025 and he's been identified by Louis Saha as a suitable replacement for De Gea at Old Trafford. As quoted by the Express, the former United and Everton striker said: "De Gea is still right at the top level, but of course making mistakes as he did against Everton is never good.
"Over the years, De Gea has done tremendous performances to save the team and he deserves the time and credit for that. If De Gea doesn’t sign a new contract then a move for Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy would make perfect sense. He has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world the last few years and I’m not sure what happened."

Todd Boehly handed striker setback
Chelsea have been handed a huge setback in Todd Boehly's mission to sign a striker this month. The Blues have been heavily linked with a number of top players in the January transfer window as Graham Potter looks to bolster his frontline - one of whom is Marcus Thuram.
Thuram's impressive displays for club and country have courted great interest in his signature, with Arsenal said to have closely monitored his progress. According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are in talks to explore a deal that brings the Frenchman to Stamford Bridge this month.
The report states that the Blues see the signing of the £6million-rated striker as a 'big opportunity'. However, Chelsea seem to remain some way from welcoming Thuram to west London.
According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the club are considering an 'official offer' for the striker but a spanner has been thrown in the works. It's said that Thuram wants to stay at Borussia Monchengladbach this month and see out the remainder of his contract.
Dortmund takes aim at Chelsea target
Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke seems to have aimed a dig at Chelsea target Youssoufa Moukoko.
According to the Evening Standard, Newcastle have made a 'substantial verbal approach' for the striker, leapfrogging the Blues. The report states that Moukoko is thought to have discussed a deal worth over £150,000 a week to join Eddie Howe's side on a free transfer once his deal at the Signal Iduna Park expires at the end of the season.
"I started 18 years ago with the proviso that there might be a little gratitude from time to time, but I’ve given up on that a long time ago," Watzke said.
"Gratitude is not a currency in professional football. Sadly, that really is the case. But I won’t hold that against anyone, because the business is simply the way it is.
"I don’t think the whole process is very normal. The difference is that he’s 18 years old now and he was at the World Cup and that makes it even more public.
