Chelsea transfer news: Blues favourites in Manuel Ugarte tussle amid Mason Mount exit talks

Your morning Chelsea transfer round-up on Sunday, June 4.

Ugarte tug of war

Mauricio Pochettino has given the green light for his new employers to secure the signature of Sporting's defensive midfielder, Manuel Ugarte. The Uruguayan could be part of a £132million midfield rebuild alongside Brighton's Moises Caicedo.

Record in Portugal reported that the Blues have submitted an improved wage offer of £3million plus performance-based incentives, an improvement on the previous £2million put on the table but still short of Paris Saint-Germain's proposed £4.3million package.

Both clubs would be able to meet the player's £52 million release clause, but Ugarte prefers to take the next step of his career in the Premier League.

Good odds for Osimhen

Chelsea are just one of a growing list of clubs keeping tabs on prolific Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

The Nigerian helped fire his current club to their first Serie A title in 33 years with 25 goals in 31 appearances, so there is no surprise that speculation is rife over where will be his next destination.

The Blues have been tipped as favourites at 3/1 to acquire Osimhen's services and end their goalscoring issues, staving off competition from the likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Man United all in for Mount

According to The Times, Manchester United have opened direct talks with Chelsea over the summer acquisition of Mason Mount, though there is no offer on the table as of yet.

The west London club would prefer to negotiate new terms with their academy product, but contract discussions have stalled throughout the recently finished campaign and Mount is believed to prefer a fresh start elsewhere.

Liverpool were initial leaders in the race for the England international, though their bitter rivals have swooped in and taken command of the situation.
