Chelsea transfer news: Aurelien Tchouameni fee revealed as Christopher Nkunku update given

After another disappointing weekend in the Premier League, Chelsea are now in serious danger of losing the third spot in the Premier League with a potential late battle for their Champions League place.

Chelsea drew to Wolves with one of the last kicks of the game as Conor Coady rose the highest to head home and earn a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. But with a favourable schedule in comparison to Arsenal and Tottenham, who play each other this weekend, the Blues can be confident enough heading into the final few weeks of the season.

Chelsea fans will just be looking forward to the FA Cup final and be hoping for a resolution to the Roman Abramovich saga. Bad results in the Premier League and Champions League have seen them fall completely out of the picture for those trophies, with only the FA Cup now to play for.

There are continued updates around the club's ownership as prospective bidders line up to take control after the Russian billionaire. The takeover will no doubt impact how Chelsea can operate in this summer's transfer window with a view to improving Thomas Tuchel's squad.

A speedy resolution would be the best outcome ahead of a summer in which Chelsea know they need to acquire some talented players as Tuchel continues to build his Chelsea squad, whilst certain players will be set to leave the club, too.

And today, two French superstars have been linked to the Blues.

Aurelian Tchouameni has earned plenty of plaudits for his play within the last two seasons, becoming one of the better young defensive midfielders in world football. The 22-year-old Monaco midfielder has also been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United and according to Marca, Chelsea have made their move.

Monaco have told suitors they must pay at least £42million for the France international, a figure that could rise to £52million if they qualify for the Champions League, which seems likely at this point.

And another French young superstar has also been linked to the club, as RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku has had another outstanding season. He has scored 31 goals and added 14 assists this season.

The 24-year-old has been linked to Chelsea and the club's CEO has stated that he will not let the striker leave this season. Oliver Mintzlaff told SPORT1 : “We have clearly discussed it internally: we won’t let Nkunku leave this summer, we told him and his agent”.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has added that Leipzig hope to extend his contract, which is set to expire in 2024.

A lofty price tag will be placed on him, with teams likely having to pay north of £70million to secure his signature.
