Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes the Londoners should avoid looking to sign Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 37-year-old, who will have aspirations of guiding Portugal to World Cup glory in Qatar in the coming weeks, is expected to leave United next year after falling out-of-favour under manager Erik ten Hag. He has started just twice in the Premier League so far this season and was banished from the squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea for disciplinary reasons.
Ronaldo refused to step off the bench during last Wednesday's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur and headed back to the dressing room before the match had even finished. He also left Old Trafford before his teammates had returned to the dressing room following the full-time whistle.

Although Ten Hag has reiterated that Ronaldo remains part of his plans, there is a growing feeling that he will leave the club ahead of his contract expiring at the end of this season. Chelsea were heavily linked with signing the former Real Madrid man during the summer and could rekindle their interest.
However, Cascarino believes Ronaldo would be the wrong type of striker for Chelsea to sign, insisting they need someone with pace. Furthermore, he does not believe United would allow him to move to Stamford Bridge, pointing towards how it could backfire on them in their quest for Champions League football.
Asked if he expects Chelsea to make a move for Ronaldo, Cascarino, speaking to talkSPORT, said: "Not really. It's an interesting one because I don't think United will be prepared to let Ronaldo go.
"It could cost them Champions League football if they didn't make the top-four and Ronaldo went to Chelsea. From that point of view it would be a difficult one to understand.
"Also, Chelsea need legs in the centre forward position, they need someone who's a real, determined runner, who gets into positions and is quick. I would be amazed if that happened, if Ronaldo ended up at Stamford Bridge.
"I don't see Manchester United wanting to do that, it would be cutting your nose to spite your face, it really would. If you let him go there and Chelsea finish above you, it would be a really bad look for United."
