Chelsea told to sign 'the next Alisson' for £25m to solve goalkeeper woes

Chelsea have been told the answer to their goalkeeper problems amid ongoing concerns over the form of Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.

Sanchez has been reinstated as the Blues' first-choice keeper, having last month been dropped following a string of errors only for understudy Jorgensen to drop a clanger against Aston Villa while deputising.

Sanchez was also dropped due to poor form last season, and replaced by Djordje Petrovic, who has since been shipped out on loan to sister club Strasbourg where he is earning impressive reviews.

Chelsea will welcome teenager Mike Penders to the club in the summer after a deal was agreed last year with Genk , while Marcus Bettinelli and Lucas Bergstrom are also in the first-team squad.

But former Blues star Emmanuel Petit believes none of the soon-to-be six senior keepers are capable of solving Enzo Maresca's struggles between the sticks, and instead believes the answer lies in Lille's Lucas Chevalier.

Chevalier, aged 23, is already in his third season as Lille's first-choice keeper and is reportedly attracting admiring glances from both home and abroad.

Petit believes Chevalier has the ability to take up the task of being Chelsea goalkeeper, and compared him to Liverpool's Alisson Becker, who is considered by many as the best keeper in the world.

He would fit in perfectly for what they are trying to do at Chelsea

Emmanuel Petit on Lucas Chevalier

"I think the answer to Chelsea’s goalkeeping problem is Lucas Chevalier," Petit told YaySweepstakes.com. "He is a player of vital importance to Lille in both Ligue 1 and in the Champions League.

"He has had so many amazing performances this season, in the games against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid he reminded me of Alisson, especially what Alisson did against PSG.

"He’s been learning the position for three years and improving as time goes on, he is a huge prospect and I've been told PSG might be interested with pressure on Gianluigi Donnarumma.

"Chevalier is confident and has been doing incredible things, he could be available for about £25million and is only 23, he would fit in perfectly for what they are trying to do at Chelsea."
