Chelsea told to appoint the 'next Pep Guardiola' as manager

Chelsea have been told to appoint a manager that could rival Pep Guardiola in England. The Blues are still searching for their third permanent head coach of the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital era.

10 months into their ownership and Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter have already been sacked with Frank Lampard and Bruno Saltor operating as interim coaches too. The latter is set to be in charge until the end of the season, giving the owners extra time to make an informed decision.

Whereas they spent less than 48 hours between relieving Tuchel and appointing Potter, only speaking with one other candidate, the process is being carried out by footballing directors this time around. Laurence Stewart and Christopher Vivell are heading that whilst Paul Winstanley is also involved.

Their shortlist of potential new bosses for the Stamford Bridge hot seat once more includes Mauricio Pochettino but the club are also holding talks with Julian Nagelsmann as well as making contact with Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim.

Another name in the hat is former Spain and Barcelona man Luis Enrique. Having taken the Catalan side to the 2015 Champions League as well as league titles during his three-year spell at Camp Nou, Enrique is an experienced option for the group to consider. Former defender William Gallas thinks he's the man to help push the club back up the league.

Speaking to Genting Casino, he said: "Enrique would bring a Spanish style to Chelsea. He’s won trophies, so he has a lot of experience he can bring. He can bring something new too. He also has to know what players he needs to try and win the league, so I think it will be a good fit.

"It’s very difficult now to find the right manager for clubs now, as they don’t have time to show what they can do. Pep Guardiola showed how to win trophies with City. So it will be interesting to see if Enrique can do the same thing. It will be a great challenge for him."

Enrique took over two years after Guardiola left Barcelona and had great success with a front-three to match any of the Manchester City boss' best in Catalonia. Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar helped him to dominate in Europe before taking on the challenge of reforming the national side.

That ended after his contract wasn't renewed following the 2022 World Cup but since then Enrique has made his determination to manage in England clear and remains in with a chance of taking the role at SW6.
