Chelsea to press ahead with Kai Havertz pursuit after securing Champions League football

Chelsea will step up their pursuit of Kai Havertz after they secured Champions League football for next season.

Victory over Wolves yesterday sealed a top-four finish and Chelsea are now expected to make an official move for the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder.

Havertz has indicated he wants to move to Stamford Bridge and Frank Lampard hopes a deal can be reached for around £70million.

The 21-year-old is due to play for Leverkusen in the Europa League next month, but Chelsea want to secure an agreement which means he misses the climax of the competition so he has more time to settle in west London and prepare for the start of next season.

New Chelsea signing Timo Werner landed in London as he prepares to begin life at Stamford Bridge, with the German striker posting a picture of him at London Biggin Hill Airport in Kent, with Chelsea concluding their Premier League campaign at Stamford Bridge that afternoon, and Havertz 'liked' the image.
