Chelsea to battle Ten Hag's Man Utd for Antonio Rudiger replacement as Inter Milan talks begin

Chelsea among other Premier League clubs have interest in Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar as they look to rebuild their defensive unit this summer. That's according to Italian outlet Gazzetta who have reported that Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all reportedly shown interest in the 27-year-old centre-back.

However, the Italian side are hoping to keep Skriniar at the club by offering him a new deal. The Slovakian will be into the final year of his contract next season and could leave as a free agent as he enters into his prime years.

The report states: "The club wants to lock down the Slovakian who is also followed by Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham: a Barella-style salary of €4.5 million-plus bonuses is ready, which in the following years will exceed €5 million."

Chelsea are in the market for a number centre-backs this summer, as they're set to lose Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta set to leave the club as free agents.

A number of centre-backs have been linked, but with Thomas Tuchel eager to deploy a back three, he'll certainly be looking at two or three key starters for the position.

If Inter are not able to agree a deal for the talented Slovak, a cut-price deal could well be on the cards for Chelsea and other suitors.

Inter also have Stefan de Vrij - a talented centre-back who is also set to become a free agent in 2023 - and the Nerazzurri could decide to sacrifice de Vrif, the report states, instead of Skriniar, who is considered as one of the best defenders in Serie A and one of the leaders of Inter’s dressing room.
