Paul Merson thinks Chelsea will sell forward Timo Werner in the summer transfer window with the German struggling for form at Stamford Bridge.
The 26-year-old signed for the Blues in the summer of 2020 for around £50million from RB Leipzig, but has failed to make the desired impact in the Premier League so far.
Werner still has over three years remaining on his Chelsea contract, but he continues to be linked with an exit at the end of the season.
According to reports from Germany, Borussia Dortmund are interested in bringing Werner back to the Bundesliga, although his wage demands are said to be a concern for the club.
At the moment, though, Chelsea are unable to buy or sell players due to the sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich from the UK government earlier in the week.
The sanctions, however, are set to be reviewed in May - where Abramovich will be hoping that the club has been sold to elsewhere.
If Chelsea are able to offload players in the summer transfer window, Merson thinks Werner could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, as he tips the new owners to "start selling players".
Speaking to Sportskeeda, the former Arsenal midfielder said: "Chelsea are in a bit of a situation at the moment. Rudiger has gone anyway - you don't refuse to sign a contract and lose £80,000-a-week for nothing.
"When players don't sign contracts, you can take it for granted that they will leave more often than not.
"Where can you take Chelsea from here? They're the champions of Europe and they've won everything.
"Whoever buys Chelsea at this point will probably just lose money. They'll have to start selling players - if they can get their money back for Timo Werner, they will probably sell him too."
As mentioned above, it has not been an easy time, in terms of adaptation to football in England, for Werner.
When Romelu Lukaku was signed last summer for a club-record £97.5m, many thought it was the end of Werner's short time at Chelsea, but that has not been the case.
In fact, both Lukaku and Werner have been struggling for minutes due to the recent form of Kai Havertz.
Thomas Tuchel, when speaking in September of last year, outlined his plan to use both Lukaku and Werner on the pitch at the same time - but that has not happened regularly this season so far.
Tuchel said: "I am sure that we will find games and solutions where we play with both of them (Lukaku and Werner).
"We did already and Timo and Romelu can be a good fit together. Timo loves to play around a reference up front and Romelu is clearly our reference up front being a tall and physical players.
"The most important is he finds the rhythm and confidence and joy and makes his point and makes his way into the team.
"The players are in charge to take their positions and fight for their positions and once they have it to not give it away.
"We have not too many players but we have players with high quality and high ambition and Timo is clearly a guy that we count on and that is absolutely necessary we have him on high level."
