Three have announced that they will continue their shirt sponsorship of Chelsea and “restart marketing activities” at Stamford Bridge following the successful sale of the club to Todd Boehly.

The global mobile phone network and broadband provider temporarily suspended their sponsorship of Chelsea back in March after former owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK Government in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine for his alleged links to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Three initially asked for their branding to be removed from the club’s shirts and from around the stadium “until further notice”, though the logo did ultimately remain on jerseys for the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.

Three have sponsored Chelsea since 2020 and their lucrative three-year deal, believed to be worth around £40million per season, is due to expire in 2023.

The Blues announced on Thursday that Three had now resumed marketing activities with the restrictions posed on Chelsea following Abramovich’s sanctioning now lifted after a consortium led by American investor Boehly completed their record £4.25billion purchase of the club in May.

Three returned to the sponsor section on the club website on Wednesday.

“Following the recent pause in their activities, the Club is pleased to have resumed our work with Three and we look forward with excitement to the start of the new season, together,” said Chelsea’s head of global partnerships, John Rogers.

“We would like to thank all Club partners for their support now and in the future.”
