Chelsea team news hint dropped by Bruno Saltor for Liverpool clash after Graham Potter sacking

Chelsea interim manager Bruno Saltor has dropped a team news hint ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening. The Spaniard has taken charge of the Blues following Graham Potter's dismissal as manager on Sunday evening.

Potter spent just six months in charge of Chelsea and endured a difficult 32 games after replacing Thomas Tuchel earlier this season. A statement from the club read: "Chelsea FC has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club.

"Graham has agreed to collaborate with the club to facilitate a smooth transition. Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future."

Julian Nagelsmann is the favourite to replace the now-departed Potter, football.london understands. Saltor remains in charge for the time being whilst Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali search for potential replacements with the club said to be hoping to start interviews over the vacant managerial position this week.

The games continue to come thick and fast for the Blues and Saltor spoke in his first press conference ahead of the clash against Jurgen Klopp's side on Monday afternoon, hinting that he may select a similar team to that which lost 2-0 against Aston Villa and saw Potter lose his job.

When asked about the condition of the squad, Saltor responded: "No, same news as last week. [We're] Seeing it as an opportunity for the players - we are representing Chelsea."

Liverpool have struggled this season and come into the game off the back of three consecutive defeats in all competitions, but Saltor is expected a tough game. The Blues interim manager added: "I don't have to give any clues to Liverpool but I think as you saw the (Aston Villa) game.

"We dominate the game and as everyone knows we lost the game. There were a few mistakes.

"Overall I think it was a good performance. We had a lot of chances and are going to try to keep as close as we can."

Saltor may select the same team that faced Villa judging by his comments as he continues to prepare the Blues for a difficult test. He continued: "A club with an amazing history, it is about winning, it is about dominating and what we need to do is prepare for the game.

"Preparation helps a lot for performance and that is what the players need to focus on. Obviously pure admiration towards Jurgen [Klopp].

"I cannot say anything that everyone doesn't know. Obviously they are going through a tough season as well but they've got top players and we're expecting a really aggressive game, high intensity and we need to be ready."
