Chelsea target Wesley Fofana to be left OUT of Leicester squad for Southampton clash

Leicester are set to leave Wesley Fofana out of their squad to face Southampton this weekend amid ongoing transfer interest from Chelsea.

Brendan Rodgers has decided he will not use the defender, who is believed to have had his head turned by a potential switch to west London.

The Leicester boss was asked whether he would consider leaving out Fofana during his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

“Yes, 100 per cent," Rodgers said ahead of Southampton’s visit to the King Power Stadium on Saturday. “If the players aren’t totally focused and committed to the club and being here, or for whatever reason just aren’t in the right mindset, that won’t help us.

“We have to ensure everyone is really focused in order for us to play the best game we can. I will always assess that after the sessions.”

Chelsea have so far failed to match Leicester's asking price for their star defender having had two bids worth up to £70million rejected.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also targeting Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Everton’s Anthony Gordon.

With Chelsea having seen two offers worth up to £45m for the latter rejected, Toffees coach Frank Lampard has not sought to do the same as his Leicester counterpart.

“He’s [Gordon] in the squad for tomorrow, any chats I have with him will remain private,” Lampard said ahead of Everton’s match against Nottingham Forest.

“You can’t ask me to assure anything, it’ll be naive of me to assure anything. I can’t assure I’ll be here by the end of the window!”
